Aaron Brink is sitting on a brand new sound. We've known about Hypha for a minute, but it's with his latest EP, Primavera, out today (April 18) on ShadowTrix Music that I really feel he's got a cohesive demonstration of what he's capable of doing in the sonic realm.
Today we premiere the title track, “Primavera,” which is the springboard into the rest of the collection. It's house-y, it's bubbly, and its effervescence gives way to this effortless future bass sound that's not trite or contrived, but really does feel at home in the west coast bass scene. In fact, the rest of the release bounces around between these minimal, flexible audio sketches that contain such elegance in their simplicity. It's not only a big step for Hypha, but for the label, itself.
Of course, I'm biased because I'm an instant fan of anything ShadowTrix puts out, but that trust as a tastemaker is incredibly important to fans who want to come to rely on their favorite labels to deliver each and every time. Come see what all the hype is about when the STM clan hosts its own stage at The Untz Festival this summer. Until then, download this new Hypha EP today, and bounce around through the ShadowTrix Music back catalog. It's more than worth it.
