Three days of music and enchantment in the breathtaking Blue Ridge Mountains just outside of Asheville, NC are nearing with the
Festival of Gnarnia less than two weeks away. With a stacked line-up, the headliners will be joined by an array of stellar and unique supporting acts spanning multiple artistic and musical genres.
August 9th, 10th, and 11th,
Gramatik,
Paper Diamond,
Eliot Lipp,
Emancipator,
Tipper,
Conspirator,
12th Planet,
Ott,
VibeSquad,
Papadosio and more assemble to provide a musical landscape for the Gnarnia extravaganza. 7 Walkers will also playing on the anniversary of Jerry's death.
Priding itself on efforts of sustainability and side entertainment, the festival achieves ultimate sustainability by utilizing bio-diesel fuel in all of the power generators. This makes power generation completely carbon neutral.
At over a mile above sea level, Eastern America’s highest town, Beech Mountain has a number of alternative entertainment options for Gnarnians including a Wizard of Oz themed park complete with yellow brick road and a scale replica of Dorothy’s house.
Phadroid is a complete visionary art immersion: the unique fusion of live digital painting and live body movement. Visionary digital alchemist, Android Jones and creative movement artist, Phaedra Ana Jones merge to create a visual experience of different dynamic objects synced with the fluidity of motion accentuated by the body movements. Tipper and Phadroid have also been throwing down together out west with epic reviews.
Another interesting activity is the B-Boy Battle, a tournament-style break dancing competition judged by a panel of three, top regional break-dancers. In addition, Friday night will be a costume ball, giving festival attendees the opportunity to contribute to the overall visual experience of the party and be part of the wacky fun.
All weekend there will be also bicycle jousting, mud wrestling and live performances by hoop troops, fire dancers, stilt walkers and other fascinating entertainers. Furthermore, the Poetix Lounge will feature a cabaret-style showcase of nationally acclaimed and award winning performance poets. This is also unlike any other festival; spoken word is HUGE in Asheville. There is a not for profit for children, LEAF festival among others, to teach kids spoken word expression.
Gnarnia is a destination festival where guests can choose from numerous reasonably priced cabins and condos available within walking distance to the front gate of the festival. A limited amount of camping passes will also be available for $25 per person.
Three-day passes are available for only $135 and single day passes are also being sold for $75 per day. Royal Treatment passes are on sale for $450 and include perks like special viewing areas, festival merchandise, meals and drinks.
