The worst thing that happened to producers was easily the influx of WiFi on commerical airlines. It's much easier to mindlessly flip through Instagram than open up the ol' DAW, crack the knuckles, and dive in. But Eliot Lipp managed to bang out what he calls one of his best tracks of the year a he cut through the clouds on his way to his old stomping grounds of Tacoma, WA.
Splitting the difference between tropical house and chillwave, "SeaTac Arrival" loops a haunting vocal over synthy drums, calling to mind a throwback glitch tune set over Twin Shadow's beat. The subtleties of the cut reflect the simplicity of cruising at high altitudes, gazing off at the scenery, and tuning out with a pair of big headphones. Here's what Lipp had to say about his new track:
I made this one start to finish on a flight from Denver to Seattle. I saw some of the most beautiful parts of the country. Passing Mt. Rainier was a trip; it's so massive. As always, there was a blanket of clouds hovering over the Puget Sound. This song is a reminder to me that even on those cloudy, gloomy days, there's a sunny blue sky just a little ways above.
Eliot Lipp begins his exhaustive tour of the midwest, mid-Atlantic, southeast, and northeast next week, with high-profile stops at Euphoria in Austin and Sweetwater 420 Fest in Atlanta, as well as a Knitting Factory gig in his adopted home of Brooklyn, NY.
