The term "all-star" gets throw around a lot these days, but the debut of the Stratosphere All-Stars at the Brooklyn Bowl in late March surely lives up to the name. The group, anchored by former STS9 bassist David Murphy, Digital Tape Machine's guitarist Marcus Rezak, Lotus drummer Mike Greenfield, and Particle's Steve Molitz on keys is a furiously powerful outfit not to be trifled with or taken lightly.
On March 26th, the group powered through Talking Heads' "Girlfriend," the Grateful Dead's "Shakedown Street," and the Grant Green classic "Jan Jan." Joined by special guests Todd Stoops (Kung Fu), Andrew Block (Gramatik), and vocalists Ben Combe (Particle) and Allison Singer, the supergroup kept the crowd dancing all night long. Did you miss the band's debut? No worries, you can download the entire set and enjoy it in the comfort of your own spaceship.
The band reunites (with new special guests) at Catskill Chill this September, and plans on adding more dates to its calendar in the coming weeks.
