Desert Trax is bringing in the heavy-hitters for a new remix project for Poranguí. Multi-instrumentalist, storyteller, and world-bridger Poranguí Carvalho McGrew, whose personal background is as varied as his musical library has amassed a stunning collection of songs over the years, and Desert Dwellers' extended family is helping bring his originals to more people through a double album of remixes.
UNTZ favorites also getting in on the action include TRIBONE, Stratusphere, Drumspyder, and Shamans Dream & Geometrae. One of the standouts is the Mandala Affect and dela Moon collab that veers into liquid drum & bass territories on “Stardust.”
We actually got the chance to debut Desert Dwellers' own remix of “Stardust,” which picks up where their latest album, BREATH, left off. Earthy, tribal house takes fans on a journey through the rich textures of McGrew's sound. This song is perfect for sweating out those demons on a hot summer festival night. The good news is Desert Dwellers will be performing many sweaty festivals this season, including Cascadia in Washington at the end of this month, Beloved in the middle of next month, and out east at High Caliber Fest in September, where they are performing a special Deep Bass set. Poranguí will be returning to ARISE in Colorado next month, as well as Beloved Festival in southern Oregon in mid-August.
Another entire second volume of Poranguí remixes is on its way, but fans will be able to get this initial volume July 12th.
