True to form, Dave Tipper let his music do the talking. Late last night, the English producer and performer released “Sleeper” with the simple message “A song for my Stepdad PJ, who passed today.”
Straying from some of the downtempo sounds of his Fathoms EP, and slightly more in line with low key musings from Surrounded like “Forty Winks,” this song eschews the psychedelia of some of his slower catalog for more lush, symphonic layers. It's breathtaking in its simplicity, which belies a roiling stew of emotions and depth of feeing below the surface. It's a touching tribute, to be sure.
Tipper has only one date remaining on his 2016 tour schedule. He will headline the inaugural SNOWTA New Year's Eve indoor festival at the Minneapolis Convention Center alongside Infected Mushroom, BogTroTTer, Pleasure, Beak Nasty, and more on December 31st in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
