Thanks to Mr. Bill and his Billegal Beats label, I'm getting all the hot new IDM straight from the source. That being said, Bill and his team find such cool and obscure stuff (purposefully obscure, I might add), that I feel stupid about not knowing anything about these acts. But that's part of the joy of it, I suppose.
The label's most recent discovery is Zohka—I think out of Japan, but I have no idea—whose sound ranges from ephemeral downtempo to hard-hitting neuro. The Hotobori EP drops April 24th with four obscenely intricate tracks. I selected opener “Tsumerenge” to premiere today, but each cut on here is really catchy and experiemental. I honestly don't have much to say, because I know nothing about her/him/them, so I'll just let the music do the talking (as I always should).
