The biggest story of the second phase lineup additions to Ultra Music Festival was undoubtedly the world premiere festival appearance of Skrillex and Diplo's Jack U project. Two of the biggest names in the electronic dance music industry, the former's name was conspicuously absent from the first round announcements.
Still interesting is the addition of live bluestep producer Gramatik, whose album, The Age of Reason, dropped this week for free on BitTorrent. Can't say we're surprised with his popularity of late, but it seems like a pretty progressive booking for a festival whose go-to acts tend to be more of the Top 100 DJ variety. That being said, this year's lineup does skew a little bit more underground dubstep and trap than it has in the past.
The full second phase lineup additions include Afrobeta, Alvin Risk, Aly & Fila, Amtrac, Andrea Oliva, Audien, Brillz, Bro Safari, Candyland, Cedric Gervais, Chance The Rapper, Clockwork, Cosmic Gate, Craze, Crizzly, Dannic, Danny Marquez, Danyelino, Dirtyphonics, Don Diablo, Dusky, DVBBS, Dyro, Fedde Le Grand, Figure, Goldfish, Gramatik, Grandtheft, Hardline, Henry Fong, Hugo Bianco, Infected Mushroom, Jochen Miller, John Digweed, John O’Callaghan, Julio Bashmore, Justin Oh, Kill Frenzy, DJ Koo, Laidback Luke, MAKJ, The Martinez Brothers, Mat Zo, Michael Brun, Ms. Mada, MOTi, Mykris, Myon & Shane 54, Paper Diamond, Pegboard Nerds, Rebecca & Fiona, RL Grime, Rony Seikaly, Sandro Silva, Sluggers, Stafford Brothers, Syn Cole, Thunderpony, Tommie Sunshine, Ummet Ozcan, Viceroy and Vicetone. The festival returns to Bayfront Park in Miami, FL on March 28-30.
