Of course we're pumped about Suwannee Hulaween. We did name it the #1 Halloween Event in the whole country, didn't we? Some of the biggest stars in our corner of the dance music scene are doing their own things for the haunted holiday, but all of them end up trickling back to central Florida for this huge bash.
Silver Wrapper and Purple Hat Productions put their heads together and basically crafted our dream lineup. I mean, this thing is amazing. It's got such great artists from the festival circuit, and the setting at The Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park is second to none, with the team creating this magical world of escapism at Spirit Lake.
This year, the theme is Ghoul Train (an homage to Don Cornelius' Soul Train), and in that spirit, Hulaween has one of the funkiest lineups on the planet behind it. Now we know that this festival attracts a big quotient of the jam community, and certainly with String Cheese hosting the fest and playing 3 nights, a predominance of fans are following SCI to Suwannee.
With that in mind, we thought we'd create a handy lil' cheat sheet for folks who might be dipping their toes into the electronic/dance music realm a little, or better yet, for those who think all UNTZ UNTZ UNTZ music sucks and they're going to boycott these sets, anyway. Listen up, skeptics, Hulaween scrounged up the best of the best, so these are the 10 sets you need to make sure you see.
Visit suwanneehulaween.com to get your tickets to the Halloween event of the year, hitting The Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park in Live Oak, FL from October 30 - November 1 with a pre-part on October 29.
10. Greenhouse Lounge
GHL is in its home state at the nexus of jam bands and livetronica royalty. You can count on the boys rocking out a fierce set.
9. The Polish Ambassador
The Funkiest Diplomat extends his olive branch to the cypress swamps of Suwannee. Coming off the big Wildlight album The Tide, expect to hear some gems from that one.
8. The Floozies
Brothers Matt and Mark Hill are on a mission from god. Funk Brothers 2030, coming to an (amphi)theater near you.
