I don't know if toads hibernate, but Toadface has been off our feeds for a little while. He resurfaced with his “40 Pizzas” tribute to disgraced CEO and racist slice glutton Papa John, a collab with Aweminus, about a month ago, but today Todd Holler is serving up something entirely hot and fresh.
Gangrene is a brand spanking new EP with seven wildly different tracks that all demonstrate Toadface's penchant for experimenting. With his signature croaking bass sounds intact, Holler runs through dubstep on “Discovery,” glitch-hop on “Half Ounce,” trap on “Big Mane,” and even closes out with some lo-fi hip-hop on “Wholesome.”
Toadface has always been a bit of a chameleon (apologies to my biology teacher for fucking up my genus and species here), but no matter which direction Todd Holler chooses to go in pursuit of genre-agnostic perfection, he always lands on his webbed feet.
