Todd Holler is on a roll. The midwest's rising star of bass has been finding himself on a number of high-profile bills and festivals, and his own original output is really exciting fans in the underground scene. With the recent release of one of the biggest hip-hop records in recent history, Kendrick Lamar's DAMN, Holler decided to pay tribute to one of his favorite rappers, and also do double-duty demonstrating just how proficient he is in a number of styles and sounds.
Taking on a number of hits from the album (although they could all be considered hits since each of the fourteen tracks has charted on the Billboard Hot 100), Toadface's “Praise Kendrick” takes the bootleg game to new heights, almost turning into a mini-mixtape of flips and edits that shows off just how talented Holler really is. It's a whirlwind of styles and sounds, but that signature Toadface aesthetic is still a central theme in the whole piece.
We have a vested in interest in young Toadface, of course. The man hits ThazDope Records' stage at The Untz Festival in Mariposa, California from June 2-4 at the Mariposa County Fairgrounds alongside Eazybaked, Moniker, Alejo, Psydell, smith., Aplsoz, beardthug, and a massive crew of up-and-comers. We're so pumped to have both Holler boys and Mt. Analogue as well to complete The Trifinity, and there are even more surprises in store for fans.
