The transformation takes ahold of you and digs itself in like the maple’s root bears down upon the earth each spring and summer. The energy and mystery surrounding Cascadia is one that ought to be explored; within and without. Avid and well-versed regulars as well as newcomers are welcomed to the near and ongoing two decade run the folks orchestrating Summer Meltdown have had; aiming at next-gen evolved party fun. When you find yourself deep within the evergreens, within most circumstances, a personal evolution might be upon you. Summer Meltdown, August 10-13, it’s going down.
Darrington, Washington historically is a feel-good bluegrass space. Native Americans, pioneers, nature-lovers, and the lost trying to find whatever it is they need; those types find themselves here. The first time I finally got to see The String Cheese Incident, I was in Golden Gate Park but was not necessarily in Golden Gate Park if you catch my drift. I was somewhere in between Golden cap motion and pressed pressured lotion. That mix. The sun was setting. And it was glory. Beside the point, though! Colorado’s Incident is something that people must see. The Meltdown festival lineup this year is dope. Full stop. Between SCI and The Polish Ambassador to OPIUO, The Infamous Stringdusters, The Floozies, G Jones, The Grouch, The Russ Liquid Test, Nahko and Medicine for the People, Elephant Revival, Acorn Project, and more (as of phase 1); the music and the glaciers and pottery barn smell of a wood untouched will be gorgeous as truck.
The skinny: the music festival is set in a rad location. When I trip up, I will certainly hike around and camp the woods. The smell of the air and the river on the 40+acres will be a dope spot to cool oneself on while floating upon a visionary life. Take a towel and dry river water pellets off of the body. Participate in a lovely voyage as those unnecessary nuggets precipitate in the summer sun.
The tickets are priced on point. The location is rad. The music lineup is dope. Bluegrass meets revolutionary bass; this camp is about to be lit. This family is chill. With the ying there is a yang. And in that light, if a meltdown must be had, it must be had right.
