Reason #354 Australia is cooler than the States. These are just facts, folks. Two of Melbourne's favorite sons have teamed up for a thrilling surf down the fattest "Tidal Wave" you've ever seen (or heard).
Perched on the precipice of the June 10th release of the new Squawkus EP (coming out on Omelette Records), Jim Moynihan is poised to take control of the glitch game once more. On top of a stellar assortment of tracks, Spoonbill has teamed with none other than beatboxing legend Dub FX for a rip-roaring adventure across hip-hop and dubby bass seas. "Tidal Wave" is a tight, groove-heavy banger with crossover elements that will garner Spoony some new fans, for sure, and further cement Dub FX's status as a lyrical wizard.
Squawkus is the energetic follow up to Tinkerbox, a far moodier and conceptual album that incorporated several organic and downtempo elements. The four tracks on this latest EP are pick-you-up-by-the-scruff-of-your-neck and drag-you-out-onto-the-dance-floor monsters. You can snag this tasty little treat directly from Addictech or on iTunes, if that's your bag.
