Prime Dub is adding two more producers to its burgeoning roster, and both are from across the pond in jolly England. The first is London-based Hooky, a contemporary bass producer with an ear for... well... hooks! There's no futzin' around with rapped verses or housey vocals, as far as we can tell, just straight dirty bass a la fellow labelmate MSD. The second addition is a little different. Different sound, Different attitude. Bristol's Pistol Shrimp has taken the new wave aesthetic, and glitched it--hard. What seems like a Holy Ghost!-esque 80's throwback, synth-style, turns into a completely mind-boggling slowed-down (to 100BPM) indie-house tune with funky slap-bass snippets. Totally bonkers, totally fresh, and very listenable. Prime Dub is poking around in all the right places and picking out some gems. Stay sharp, A&R folks... you're getting scooped!
