No this isn't some parlor game where you try and name two people who would never be in the same room together. Hyundai and The Grammys have paired up for the Re:Generation Music Project. Artists at the top of their game in various styles of music, from country and R&B, to jazz, rock, and classical were summoned to instruct, inform, and perform with 5 DJs, who would then attempt to re-imagine their various styles for today's audiences and contemporary sounds.
The Crystal Method traveled to Detroit to find the secrets of Motown. Skrillex sat down with Ray Manzarek and Robby Krieger of The Doors to figure out if there's anyway to split the difference between their disparate styles. And Derek Vincent Smith of Pretty Lights has a complete communication breakdown with 84-year-old bluegrass legend Ralph Stanley. Here's a first look at the documentary. As you can imagine, it's rough, it's frustrating, and it's complicated. These artists are speaking completely different languages from the DJs, but they only thing they share is a passion and love for the music. For that reason alone, this project is sure to produce some interesting results.
