From the heart of Atlanta, GA to the mountains of Colorado, live electronic duo Skymatic takes to the skies today to premiere their new remix of Ed Sheeran's "Wayfaring Stranger." If you can follow along, that's an American pair remixing a Brit covering an American folk traditional. Back and forth across the pond this classic goes, and Phil Ross was able to chop up Sheeran's a cappella and looped take into an Emancipator-esque hip-hop beat, on top of which Hannah Wilder throws down some tasty violin licks. Throw in some solid bass wubs, and you've got a golden mish-mash of sounds and styles dating back hundreds of years, but way far out in the future.
Ross and Wilder hit the Bluebird Theatre in Denver, CO tomorrow night (March 12), alongside The Mile High Sound Movement Orchestra featuring Unlimited Aspect, The Digital Connection and more, as well as Vine Street Vibes. It's a mile high throwdown you won't want to miss. Skymatic is about to make a statement.
