DJs will be spinning routine top 40 playlists in most venues across the northeast this New Year's Eve, but what are your options if you want to diverge from the norm and start 2011 on a memorable note? Though you may need to travel, several electronic acts will perform across the northeast and midatlantic next week.
New York
Psy-trance band, Infected Mushroom, will join forces with psybient project, Shpongle, for a psychedelic New Year's Eve celebration at Hammerstein Ballroom.
Infected Mushroom concerts feature guitars, live drums, vocals and electronic beats. Simon Posford, also known as Hallucinogen, is one half of Shpongle. He's responsible for Shpongle's synthesizer and studio work. Concertgoers can only hope that the elusive flutist, Raja Ram, will make an appearance.

The New Deal will host a late night party at BB Kings Blues Club and Grill. The progressive breakbeat house band is known for its improvisation-based performances. Doors open at 1 a.m. Advance tickets are $35 plus fees and $40 at the door. Get tickets here.
Italian electronica/dance music duo, The Bloody Beetroots, will spin an after hours set at Webster Hall. The duo are best known for their EP, Cornelius, which made the top 100 international iTunes downloads in 2008. Other New Years Week Events
The Disco Biscuits, Mr. Bugsly and Euphonic Conceptions are working together to present the Official After-Parties for the New York City leg of the Disco Biscuits 2011 New Years Run. These events follow each of the three nights tDB are playing at Terminal 5 (December 27th, 28th and 29th) and will feature cutting edge music, lights, visuals, art, and more. Each night will run until 4:00 AM each night, at Touch Nightclub, which is a short walk from Terminal 5.

New Jersey
Boston-based electronic/pop band, Passion Pit, will play at Wellmont Theatre in Montclair, NJ. Their live performances feature vocals, keyboards, synthesizers, drums, guitar and unique samples.
Locals will have two chances to see them at Wellmont: Dec. 30 and Dec. 31. Doors open at 9 p.m. and tickets start at $43 plus fees. Get tickets here.
Pennsylvania
Lotus' New Year's Eve show at the Electric Factory in Philadelphia is sold out, but they'll play there again on New Year's Day. Doors open at 8:30 on both nights. Brothers Past will open on Dec. 31 and Sonic Spank will open on Jan. 1. Tickets to the Jan. 1 show are $20 in advance and $25 at the door, if they last. Get them here.
The Disco Biscuits will play two nights at Tower Theater in Upper Darby. The electronic jam band's unique sound has been referred to as trance fusion, and they're well known for their annual festival, Camp Bisco, in Mariaville, NY. Shpongle will join them for the Dec. 30 show, with tickets starting at $41 plus fees. MartyParty will open for the Disco Biscuits on New Year's Eve; tickets start at $62 plus fees.
