Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck. Fuck. (Really tempted to just stop right there with the review.) Bill Day's collaborations are beginning to become something of a crack high for me. Sends me a down a spiral deep into the depths of his SoundCloud fiending for more.
This time partnering with German phenon Valentin Brunn, the partnership between Mr. Bill and Virtual Riot is unmistakably potent. The slappy jazz groove Day is starting to explore, blending very organic percussion with a whip-smart time rhythm, is bolstered by this frenetic synth melody that explodes into a solo that would make Herbie Hancock blush. The vocal chopping is genius. Pure genius.
"Thwek" is blasting through the charts, courtesy of a SectionZ release. The marvels and mysteries of the Mr. Bill saga continue, and we're hoping to hear more work with Virtual Riot. How's an EP sound, fellas?
