Video games are as electronic as apple pie, but when Vancouverite MDK introduced his latest release “Wubble Trouble” with an arcade-ready Sega sample, the word “classic” became inappropriate after the first drop. Though the track does have the synth-on-helium of chiptune, it also has dubby grime, a tight syncopated breakdown, a moombahton section in the Knife Party style and “whoos” most commonly reserved for Dutch House. It seems that MDK found his equivalent of the Mario Star with this track; though the blend is unconventional, the huge success of the finished product shows the young producer is, for the time being, invincible.
