In less than a week, all of Boston will come "together." Together Festival is an annual celebration of music, art and technology, based in and around the Boston area. The festival was first held in February, 2010, with a primary focus on electronic dance music. As the festival has evolved however, it has grown into a celebration of innovations in music and technology writ large. Think of it as a SXSW on the Charles River.
Through a week-long series of educational and professional discussion panels, art installations, film screenings, and musical performances at venues around the Boston/Cambridge area, Together Festival has attracted around 20,000 attendees per year. Although historically based in Boston, the festival has really found its home in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
Together has always been known for assembling a motley lineup of hip acts, a veritable who's who in the up-and-coming department. Names are broken in Boston who stack the tops of lineups at theaters and festivals across the country and around the world years later. On this year's roster, Flying Lotus graces the lineup along with perennial favorites Crystal Castles, ƱZ, Four Tet, Fred Falke, and Gold Panda. For some of that sweet, northeast psychedelia, look no further than Supersillyus, KiloWatts, and lespecial. Our list of acts not to miss includes recent Brainfeeder addition Thundercat, old standby Wobblesauce, Zebbler Encanti Experience, and Biz Markie. You gotta see Biz Markie, duh.
