As the woes of finals and the school week have come to an end and been replaced by stacked festival lineups and sunny weather, it is only appropriate that we hear some bass thumping anthems for those care free summer months.
We have a brand new nostalgic and groovy tune from Nashville’s own
Wick-it the Instigator who was obviously inspired the changing of the seasons, and decided to unload a funky fresh new mashup on his fans. “Hot Summer” is a hip-hop influenced cut that flawlessly combines vocals and elements of the beat from The Lovin’ Spoonful’s “Summer In The City” layered under the classic lyrics from DJ Jazzy Jeff & the Fresh Prince’s “Summertime” to create a feel good anthem that will quickly have any listener purchasing some lemonade and Otter Pops, as they head to their nearest beach or lake to pass the day away. Each section features its own energy, while providing a much needed breath of fresh air from overplayed and generic mashups that contain no substance or originality.
Wick-it the Instigator continues to prove how diverse and broad of a sound he is able to produce, with another bass filled jam that will be replayed by listeners from the second they first hear it.
