Portuguese producer Holly has been all over our radar for the past 18 months. The prolific artist is churning out collab after collab at an alarming rate, dropping singles, remixes, and EP's on killer labels from the deep underground to the taste-making mainstream. In the latter category, the new EP from Miguel Holly dropped Friday on Buygore's Fresh Blood imprint. A longtime Buygore contributor, the new Holly EP is right at home on Borgore's experimental sub-label.
Each of the three tracks on the EP is a collab. The opener, “New York Taco,” featuring Inverness on this minimal trap banger that ends up going way off the deep end. “Web Friendship” with Frost is a future bass meets slimepunk anthem. Really beautiful melodic patterns run into some off-kilter industrial machinery, grinding it all up into a sweaty pulp. EP closer “Fomuh Ride” with Miami's Jupe is the most straightforward of the three tracks, if you can really categorize it as such. With a banging trap mentality, it really finishes off this experimental offering strong. Good looks for Fresh Blood.
