A mysterious new act from Los Angeles is taking the underground bass scene by storm. With a passion for experimentation on the fringes of even the most progressive bass music, Holier has captured our attention, as well as the attention of a great many artists who are on the frontlines producing some of the most cutting-edge tunes in the biz.
It's not a surprise that the debut Holier EP, We Steal Chords, is dropping on Saturate Records, home of the best in bass, on January 17. On top of six monster originals, remixes are coming in from a who's-who of forward-thinking producers like Subp Yao, Ethan Glass, the legend Starkey, and Saturate's own BIOS.
Today, we're thrilled to premiere, “Opia,” a glitchy, snarling, tight-fisted cut that swoops and spins in and out of thickly sliced laser bass and whipped up snares. It's punchy and mercurial, darting in between hip-hop, glitch, and trap with the skill and ease of a changeling.
The entire EP is jam-packed with this kind of far out expression, and those remixes are super tough. Saturate is kicking off 2017 with a bang. Get on board.
