A new bass collective has been busy germinating over the past couple years in the mid-Atlantic and northeast. The Gradient Perspective is incubating the careers of a number of burgeoning bass acts in the DMV not just through its festival takeovers, but also as a label.
Chief Choppy Oppy is leading the charge by assembling carefully curated compilations featuring the best talent across a number of genres from the region as well as nationwide. Jared Oppenheim is known to our fans from his spot at The Untz Festival, as well as from his deep dubstep releases. And that's kind of where this comp has found its emotional center—more or less in that deeper realm.
TGP007 reeled in contributions from Vibe Emissions, Scalar Theorem, Aight Word, Krook, Nixsin, DR.EZ, and more, but today we selected a particularly nasty submission from Wade Appleton, better known to the NYC kids as DiCE MaN. A pretty tame, minimal beat and setup gives way to an overdriven wobble that howls and shrieks. It's a startling wub that cuts across the noise and grabs the listener by the throat. Appleton's sets are becoming increasingly legendary, and this tune will find a home amongst the rest with ease.
The compilation drops in full on September 25th on all your various favorite platforms, but if you pre-order the comp now for just $10, you'll automatically be entered into a drawing for a TGP pack featuring a shirt and drawstring bag. Pretty epic.
