The cross-pollination happening in the psychedelic bass realm is leading to an explosion of growth in the worldtronica sound that is sweeping the globe. Artists from around the planet are bringing ancient instruments into futuristic contexsts, and the results are astounding.
With a brand new EP out tomorrow, David Starfire is promoting the release of Lapis by premiering the Kaya Project remix of “Reflection” with us today. British producer Seb Taylor is the mastermind behind the world bass live act, and if it's cross-pollination you seek, than enjoy this. Kazakh singer Irina Mikhailova, who provides the otherworldly vocals for “Reflection” is actually a member of the live incarnation of Kaya Project. This remix houses a stunning blend of contemporary dance grooves, far east sounds, and plenty of wobbles.
Fans will be able to catch David Starfire live at CoSM at Alex Grey's Deities & Demons Masquerade Ball on Saturday (October 29) in Wappinger Falls, New York, or alternativey for those on the opposite coast, see a Kaya Project DJ set from Seb Taylor at 333 Live in Los Angeles, California on Monday (October 31) for a proper Halloween show with Bluetech as well as a bonus set by Taylor's downtempo alter ego Hibernation. And for those globetrotters who really dig the global bass thing—well, we expect you to hit both.
