Boulder boys Dominic Lalli and Jeremy Salken are back with their latest single, “Get On Up.” The sax-and-drumstick-wielding funk-onauts are going brass to the future with a new take on their distinctive style.
Dom Lalli barrels through the sax-heavy opening, building anticipation before the track drops into an innovative blend of future bass and the funk we’ve come to expect from Big G. The laser bass and trap-clap beat add a new flair to their sound, along with some snarling vocal samples. Big Gigantic has definitely embraced its niche of funky future bass, almost to the point of routineness. However, the track’s repetitive refrain is not a sign of their lack of ingenuity, but merely a teaser for what is to come.
Big G is hitting the road to headline a few select shows in Texas and Chicago before heading south to hit a number of huge festivals, including Lollapalooza in both Argentina and Brazil. They return to the U.S. in May to play sets at Summer Camp and Wakarusa, as well as Mountain Jam and Governor’s Ball in New York.
In the meantime, you can stream the new track and download it for free on their website, www.biggigantic.net.
As the song says, “I’ma get you high today, cause it’s Friiday… You ain’t got no job and you ain’t got shit to do.” Well, it’s Thursday, and you probably have shit to do, but give it a listen anyways and get high on Big G.
