Positioning itself as the premier summer music festival in the Plains, today Backwoods Music Festival unveiled its (unscrambled) lineup with plenty of talent from around the electronic music scene and beyond. Returning to Tatanka Ranch in Stroud, OK, the Labor Day Weekend festival brings some big stars to Oklahoma September 2-4.
Topping the list is live EDM duo Big Gigantic, who just completed another massive festival headlining year along with quality studio releases and collabs. Joining them are the positive energy, jammy folk force Nahko and Medicine for the People, along with two mystery headliners to be revealed in Phase 2.
The next tier of artists represents some of our favorite acts from all over the electronic industry: Liquid Stranger, Manic Focus, Illenium, Haywyre, Chill Harris, Tritonal, GoldFish, and Fractal Sky, among others. Covering melodic dubstep, future bass, trap, livetronica, house, glitch-hop and more, this festival is skewing to capture the underground scene as well as the mainstream fans with its blend of EDM and traditional festie genres of funk, reggae, and jam.
Last year marked the biggest increase in acts and exposure for the Oklahoma festival, which grew from Backwoods Bash into the full-blown summer festival contender with headliners like Odesza and Infected Mushroom. The Labor Day Weekend bash is attemping to fill the void left in the middle of the country by the cancellation of Wakarusa, which also used to be closer to the area in Lawrence, Kansas.
Tickets for the festival are on sale now at backwoodsmusicfestival.com. There are a number of levels of passes, in addition to payment plan options that help out music junkies on a budget.
