Electro has gone disco. The teaser (and it is such a tease) from
Wolfgang Gartner's forthcoming EP
Casual Encounters of the Third Kind is decidedly sunnier than most of the electro house we've been hearing through the first half of 2012. "Girl on Girl" has a certain
joie de vivre that we find absolutely entrancing. Bubbly drum patterns encapsulate the new indie-pop sound while the furry effects and grinding bass echo the firm grip on the controls we have come to expect from Gartner. There's no doubt this new album will be more upbeat and contain far less of the gritty complextro that dominated the electro house scene for the past year. It's a new day, and there's none better than Wolfgang Gartner to herald a paradigm shift in the genre. I guess disco never died...
