4. Phonat - Never
I really don't know much about Phonat other than the fact that he's an incredibly diverse producer with some serious sound design skills. A funky, summer night type of jam, This song seems to stand out from his other productions with a seamless blend of old and new, an element that I'm always drawn to. I'm not sure if the vocals are newly recorded or bits of old vinyl, but that's exactly what I love about this track.
3. Slow Magic - Waited 4 U (ODESZA Remix)
Odesza's entire music catalog could work as the soundtrack to a summer filled with ocean views and tropical drinks, so it was hard to pick one song, but I knew I had to include the Seattle duo. Slow Magic's original was dope as it is, after Odesza got their hands on it it became something truly special. One of those songs you can lay back, watch the sky, and drift away.
2. CunninLynguists - The Park (Blue Sky Black Death Remix)
This song is a bit of a throwback (released in '09), but some music is just timeless...or ageless. The dream collab between underground lyricists CunninLynguists and prolific production duo Blue Sky Black Death is exactly what summer is about. Vivid sunny day lyrics over a lavishly soulful beat. I highly recommend checking out BSBD'S discography if you're not familiar.
