John McCarten is all about the funk, from his remixes to his mash-ups. And when he takes the live band out on stage, you know it's about to be a rough and tumble dance party.

3. KOAN Sound

Will Weeks and Jim Bastow have bounced around quite a bit in terms of style, so they may seem an oddball on this list. But dagnabitt, those tunes from the Dynasty EP cannot be characterized as anything but future funk. It's undeniable.

2. The Floozies

This list would be 100% incomplete with the brothers Hill. Rising from obscurity in The Plains to being second-billed on a sold out Red Rocks show is mighty impressive. These guys know how powerful the funk is, and they worship it each night with their music.
