We at TheUntz.com love our jam bands. That's our bread and better. So it goes without saying we'd hop on board the livetronica swell when it started to really gel and spread in the early 2000's. That's where we cut our teeth. That's what really got us into the whole electronic music thing.
As a result, we've developed quite an affinity for the artists in the scene who do it live, and especially the percussionists, who function as the human drum machines who keep it all together.
These are the drummers we think are the best of the best, who bring the live sound of a thudding kick to the masses. We love our artificial beats, for sure, but when that snare pops on stage, it hits us right in the heart.
10. Mike Healy
Sometimes the unsung hero of Papadosio, we know the steady-footed Mike Healy keeps the five-piece flowing. Check out this new video of "Night and Day" that really demonstrates how active the multi-tasking Mike stays during the course of the jam. He's the rock.
9. Matt Harris
No one has grown faster in the last calendar year than Zoogma. The southern electro-jam hybrid has hit the road incredibly hard, and they get tighter and tighter with each show. You gotta give it up to the backbone of the band, Matt Harris, when it comes to scaling those heights.
8. Rob Chafin
How can we forget about Harris' tour partner Rob Chafin of The Werks (the two bands hit the road together this fall for a monster tour)? Blending straight-ahead rock 'n' roll with dance elements, Chafin can belt it out, while holding it down. Not to mention running The Werk Out like a boss.
