Few things in life make us happier than Crizzly: pizza, booty, chains... fortunately, those are the only things Crizzly likes more than us. That's called a two-way street, ladies and gentlemen.
We remember the lil' guy comin' up from Boerne, TX--throwing crazy ragers in San Antonio and sneaking into clubs to spin when he was underage. That middle-fingers-up, grab-your-crotch-and-say "yay-uh" attitude is still alive and well in Chris Lee Marshall, years after he's blown up and played all the biggest EDC stages and toured the country with some of the biggest acts.
From the good ol' days of crunkstep, through the rise of trap, it seems like Marshall has been on the cutting edge of every conceivable movement in the bass music game. But he still hearkens back to those good ol' days of pimp cups and syzzurp. With a tongue-in-cheek take on everything, the irreverent sense of humor comes through in his wild remixes, and knee-snappin' originals. This interview I did with the guy years ago still makes me belly laugh.
We <3 you, buddy. Here's a throwback to the Top 10 Crizzly tunes that make us smile.
10. Bassnectar & Excision - Put It Down (Crizzly Remix)
Whoops... did Chris just 'put down' two bass gods with one fell swoop? Mighta just done it...
9. Zelda - Lost Woods (Crizzly Remix)
I suppose it doesn't matter than Crizzly was still crappin' his dipes when Zelda first came out. Video games have always been a big part of the man's base of influences. This one was one of the first we heard from Marhall, and it's still dope as fuck.
8. A$AP Rocky - Fuckin' Problems (Crizzly Remix)
We don't have a problem with this classic remix. Shit bangs.
