1. Flume
If you haven’t noticed yet, Flume (Sydney) is all the rage these days. Maybe you’ve been living under a rock for the past year, or somewhere deep in the Australian wilderness. Even then, we’d have to assume his enticing sound has been bouncing off The Australian Alps in every direction since his eponymous debut dropped. Harley Streten can’t be stopped, and his short yet already illustrious career has drawn all eyes to Australia’s vast supply of electronic artists. And let’s not forgot about the deluxe version of his album dropping on November 8th. Vocal features from artists like How To Dress Well, Freddie Gibbs, Stalley, Killer Mike, Twin Shadow, Boldy James, and Ghostface Killah (Wu-Tang forever). An actual “flume” might be a man-made channel for water, but this Flume is channeling man-made beats all across the Seven Seas. Way cooler. And we can’t forget about his side project What So Not with Emoh Instead. “I don’t need the headache, just need the head. And I don’t need to see the bread bake, just need the bread.” Action Bronson FTW.
