8. Major Lazer
Major Lazer
With Diplo’s enlistment of Walshy Fire AKA Black Chiney and Jillionaire to help with production and live shows, there is no stopping this Grammy-nominated producer, re-mixer, and head honcho of Mad Decent Records. Through unending curiosity and exploration of the world’s vast musical heritages in Jamaica, Africa, the US, and beyond, Diplo has a knack for seamlessly connecting the dots between the global underground and the commercial music mainstream. In connecting those dots, he’s racked up production credits for MIA, Santigold, Drake, Usher, Snoop Dogg, Beyonce, and Bruno Mars, among many others. In 2013, Major Lazer released its 2nd album, Free the Universe, this time without his former studio co-pilot, Switch, at his side. Expect the unexpected at CounterPoint this year as this will be a show where anything can happen!

7. Tycho
Tycho

Scott Hansen is playing with our emotions like a puppeteer. So far, the indie/electronic producer has teased us with two tracks from the forthcoming album, Awake, including the title track and just this week, "Montana." Luxiourious, reverb-soaked guitar echoes over haunting soundscapes. Tycho is an absolute master of emotion.

6. Papadosio
Papadosio

Revolutionary technology meets a revolutionary message in Papadosio. Melding progressive rock with psychedelic rock, folk with electronica, and dance music with jam, this Ashville, NC based quintet has amassed a dedicated following of likeminded individuals sowing the seeds of unity and spreading the sounds of exaltation. Singer-songwriter Anthony Thogmartin’s visionary lyrics, electric production, and signature guitar work are anchored by the rock-solid battery of drummer Mike Healy and bassist Rob McConnell. The group is rounded out by brothers Billy and Sam Brouse whose two-headed keyboard, synth, and programming attack give the band its unmistakable complexity and intensity. Papadosio at CounterPoint is sure to captivate, inspire, and move fans to a new degree of love for the life they live on this great planet.
