The long wait is over. Today we reveal the final lineup for The Untz Festival 2017, and it's one of our proudest accomplishments in the 7-year history of our company. When TheUntz.com was founded back in 2009, we made it a priority to shine a spotlight on underground artists changing the electronic music landscape, and today we can point to our lineup and say we're doing just that.
Returning June 2-4 to the Mariposa County Fairgrounds in Mariposa, California, our second year provides a healthy mix of legendary veterans who have been blazing a path, and the fresh talent who has been carving out new lanes from their predecessors, and they all come together in northern California in just 100 days.
Fans were excited to learn we had tapped superstars of the underground bass world Liquid Stranger, Space Jesus, TRUTH, EPROM, Shlump, Conrank, Tsuruda, Sayer, NastyNasty, The Widdler, Thelem, and The Librarian to headline our festival. But we had to dig deeper in Phase 2. We had to identify the cutting-edge stars of tomorrow who will be headlining clubs, theaters, and eventually festivals in the coming years.
Joining our lineup, we are beyond thrilled to include PROKO, Levitation Jones, Huxley Anne, DIGITAL ETHOS, and the mysterious figure known only to us at TLZMN—a project which had its debut at Bamboo Bass Festival this past weekend. It's also our pleasure to add local and regional favorites ION, DFNDRS, and SweetTooth to the bill, to give our fans in the Central Valley a chance to root on the hometown heroes. But that's not all—one of the most exciting acts on our entire lineup, Yheti, has added a special sunrise ceremony to close out the entire festival with an intimate set no one will soon forget.
One of the biggest changes we made from our first year was to understand the importance of picking the right partners. This year we had the opportunity to join forces with some of the best bass crews in the country—partners who have been throwing underground shows and sniffing out the latest talent who's not even on our radar. Fans know that we tapped Colorado's sub.mission to head up our Early Arrival Party on June 2, but we also joined forces with Wormhole Music Group, ThazDope Records, and ShadowTrix Music.
Wormhole brings us an act we are unafraid to call legendary. The UK's Ivy Lab are drum & bass royalty, and have been at the center of all sorts of movements both overseas and right here in America. They've also added Wakaan favorite Of The Trees to round out the lineup that features new Wormhole residents Shwung and Dastardly. And don't forget about Gnargate. The production on Wormhole's late night stages will be a sight to behold when Simple Machinists, Field FX, and Digital Introspect get this baby crankin'.
Rolling deep from the midwest, southeast, and beyond with a stacked lineup, ThazDope Records added even more young talent to its roster, boasting a lineup that now features Niraya, Zeplin, beardthug, CVNDLES, Gutta Kick B2B Eratixx, and locals Abstrukt and Bipolar-Frequencies amongst many more additions to go along with bigwigs Toadface, Moniker, Alejo, Psydell, and smith.
We can't say enough about how fast ShadowTrix Music the lable has been shooting up in the underground bass world, but as stage producers, these guys are totally crushing it. Not only did they add longtime STM fave PartyWave, but a true legend from the iconic Teklife crew, TASO. Handpicked by the late, great DJ Rashad, TASO is bringing his repertoire of footwork, juke, and much, much more to the table. This is a really special booking for us, and we're so thrilled about his addition. Throw in a few more ShadowTrix faves like Muppet Punk, SubDocta, and Benjah Ninjah, and things just got a lot more interesting.
More will be said about the fact that we have two stages of Funktion-Ones and two stages of pK Sound (including the much-anticipated Trinity rig on the main stage), but suffice it to say that our production game is looking mighty fine this year. Beyond the Gnargate, we've got Fractaled Visions and Lattice Tech handling main stage duties, and of course The Siren Society from Reno will be flying high overhead giving fans plenty of gawk-worthy acrobatics.
In addition to the comfortable camping that fans enjoyed so much last year at the fairgrounds, we are introducing a limited number of car camping passes, which are going fast but aren't completely gone just yet. Same as last year, we have RV passes for those with or without hookups, but indoor showers and bathrooms can be enjoyed by all. Of course we still have plenty of water stations, a huge selection of beer and food, and just about the coolest fans on the planet with whom to mix and mingle at our intimate, family and friends vibe festival.
Spend the time between now and summer studying up on some of these incredible acts with whom you may not be quite familiar just yet (but trust us, they're going to be the mega-stars of tomorrow). But don't waste time in getting your tickets. This limited run of Early Bird tickets at this low, low price will be gone soon.
Visit www.theuntzfestival.com to snag your tickets, parking passes, RV spots, and most importantly those valuable car camping vouchers, and spread the news to your friends that The Untz Festival is back and bigger than ever.
