For the past 12 years, The New Deal has pioneered the livetronica sound. One of the best in the business, Canada's premiere live improvised progressive house and breakbeat trio recently announced they would be hanging it up after this summer. In this second installment of a two-part special, drummer Darren Shearer discusses the future of live electronic music, as well as where the band is headed.
Tonight, The New Deal will be in Philly at the Electric Factory. Tomorrow night, the show scheduled for Sonar has been moved to Bourbon St. in Baltimore. TND will wrap up the weekend at Terminal 5 in NYC on Saturday night. The next New Deal shows will be at Mountain Jam and Wakarusa in early June.
Coming up next week, we have yet another special two-part episode with Derek Vincent Smith. One of the biggest producer's on the scene today, the man behind Pretty Lights will dispel notions about his music, talk about his background, and dive into his packed summer festival schedule. This rare PL interview is not to be missed!
This week's episode was brought to you by Simplify Recordings.
