Published: June 27, 2013

The Big Up Music & Arts Festival has added dynamic genre-bending rock band The Heavy Pets and seeker of unearthed sound Thriftworks to the 2013 lineup. In addition to performing his solo set, Allen Aucion (aka DrFameus) will join Space Jesus Live on drums where he’ll provide the driving beat that propels the psychedelic, bass-fueled, hip hop-laced set. Consider the Source will also be performing a second set and showcasing an acoustic take of their Sci-fi Middle Eastern Fusion that’s prefaced by an interactive discussion on the eclectic instruments used by the innovative trio.

Rounding out The Big Up’s 8-hours-per-day of inspiring workshops and activities, Jojo Mayer and John Davis of NERVE, who are credited as founding members of the "live-tronic" movement, will host a discussion on the process of recreating programmed, computerized beats in real time including bass effects and sound design. The new flier also reveals that there is at least one more artist announcement on the horizon.

Taking place August 8th – 10th at Hemlock Hallow Farm in Claverack, NY, these newly announced artists join Beats Antique, Holy Fuck, GAUDI, AN-TEN-NAE, Dopapod and many more.

The transformative weekend also offers a variety of conscious activities such as yoga and guided meditation, wellness clinics, Philmont Farmer’s Market, interactive lectures on eco-building and sustainability, mandala workshop, transformative body and face painting, scavenger hunt, comedy show by One World Puppetry, ariel silk and fire performances, theme nights, and more than 20 food and craft vendors from around the country.

Ticket prices are going up on July 1st and space is limited at this intimate boutique festival so grab yours now and save a few dollars! For more information, tickets, or to reserve a spot on one of the Party Busses launching from Brooklyn, Philly and Boston visit
