In terms of labels that keep us on our toes, Renraku Global Media is like... way the fuck ahead of the pack on a lot of sounds and artists. Without fail, the Minneapolis-based outlet is out front of the other experimental imprints, and working on the trend after the next trend.
To that end, Renraku is poised to release a new EP from Vhsceral this month. Whereas his previous output has gotten him praise in the chill communities, the Me Time EP is boldly original, and features an almost unrecognizable uniqueness amongst its six tracks. In fact, when NOISIA debuted “You Time” on a recent radio broadcast, a member referred to it as “really weird,” so that's some pretty high praise.
The title track, “Me Time,” could be categorized as the most straightforward tune on the collection. Where some dart into dark halftime or industrial, tech house territory, the closing track on the EP swaggers along with a headful of hip-hop influence and a real panache for the contemporary sound. Wouldn't surprise me at all if a rapper with any sense snatched up some Vhsceral beats to join him at the front of the herd.
You can pre-order the EP from the Renraku BandCamp or other DSPs ahead of its release on April 17th.
