Tommy Dash was a mild-mannered drum&bass DJ spinning in the underground clubs until he realized he had a knack for producing dubstep. Then it was game over. As SKisM, Dash has been on a meteoric ride since 2009. Huge cuts riddled with bass blasts have put him on the map, as well as his label (which he co-founded with Nick Sadler) Never Say Die. They released a whopping new compilation of tracks late last month featuring Datsik, Foreign Beggars, Freestylers, 501, Skeptiks, Zomboy, and countless other dubstep greats.
On this episode, Dash discusses his roots in d&b, the landscape of today's bass culture, and working as A&R for your own label in a crowded industry. You'll also hear a number of cuts from the new compilation album. This is not a show to miss for young producers getting into the dubstep game.
Make sure to catch SKisM and Dodge & Fuski out on the Never Say Die Tour in San Francisco . Today's episode is sponsored by Vital SC, bringing Buzzerdz, Whitlock, D-Menis and more to join SKisM and Dodge & Fuski at DNA Lounge Thursday, June 21.
