It's surprising that Nathan Ramos hasn't filed a restraining order against me.
For the past year, I've been jumping on every Kozmo EP, remix, collab, or comp contribution demanding to get my hands on it. The latest release from the Washington-based act is a remix EP from Street Ritual. Ramos collected some of his favorite up-and-coming acts to take on his tunes from his last Street Ritual effort, resulting in the Recalibrate Remixes, which will be out February 7.
The EP is stacked with acts like Secret Recipe and longtime collaborator SubDuktion, but what really caught my attention was the remix turned in by ShermGerm. It's a fierce reworking turned in by Brad Sherman. That hook will tear into your flesh like a barbed wire hammer, and sticks with it through the meat of the song. It's an epic, growling bass blender that absolutely shrieks with delight.
And what's this? Both acts will be performing on the ShadowTrix Music stage at The Untz Festival? What did I do to deserve such wonders? Let's hope Ramos doesn't file any paperwork on my before early June.
