Published: May 2, 2012
Roots reggae phenomenon See-I is hitting the road again this Spring. In celebration, they're premiering the video for the Turtable Dubbers and Sebski remix of "Blow Up." The Fort Knox Recordings artists have been touring incessantly, bringing their high-flying brand of dub sensationalism to the masses. Partying, informing, listening, and sharing, See-I is taking the reggae world by storm, adding a little funk and soul, and demonstrating the beloved genre's ability to adapt to the 21st century by pairing with remixers of all stripes. This video gives just a taste of the dynamic stage show See-I brings to the table.
After the release of their 2011 self-titled debut album, See-I spent the rest of the year touring nationwide, quickly becoming a hit among snowboarders, skaters, skiers and reggae fans of all kinds. Loved by fans, lauded by the press and popular with radio outlets around the world, the See-I debut album has been a breakthrough success. The track “Haterz 24/7” was licensed to the newly released NBA 2K12 video game by 2K Sports. See-I defined their signature funk n’ soul reggae vibe on the debut album and then released an album of remixes that takes the sound a step further with the hottest dance floor sounds.
Shortly after their debut, See-I released their See-I Remix Compilation featuring some of the best producers from around the world reworking See-I’s music in their own respective genres. Dub, dubstep, drum’n’bass, funk, glitch-hop, house and breaks are all represented on this release. Notable producers include Fort Knox Five, Subatomic Sound System and Clayton & Fulcrum from the United States. Ancient Astronauts from Germany, Turntable Dubbers from Belgium and Omegaman from Australia. Western Canada’s own JPOD, Knight Riderz and JRoc all contributed a mix, as did Brazili’s Drumagick. This is a truly global remix compilation, taking See-I reggae-soul sounds right around the world to a whole new set of fans.
See-I continues to take the show on the road, touring nationwide through the spring and summer. California, Nevada and Colorado are on the itinerary for May. And in June See-I is off to the Electric Forest Festival in Michigan and the Great American Festival in Washington, DC. Wherever and whenever you catch See-I live, just remember that the band came to party, so wear your dancing shoes and give it everything you got. As Zeebo likes to say on stage “We came to party, and it ain’t illegal yet!”
