Benji Hannus has already cemented his status in the Weird Bass movement via his role with Oakland weekly Wormhole Wednesdays, which has certainly served as a breeding ground for the Bay's weirdo producers and trippy trap aficionados. But he's about to increase his visibility with his brand new moniker, Secret Recipe, with The Cookbook, out on December 3.
Formerly producing and performing as Intellitard, Hannus' M.O. is still the same: synthy, glitchy melodies all with an off-kilter sense of rhythm. Today's premiere, "Interstellar Symphonies," takes listeners on an outer-space journey complete with alien 808's and plenty of bass. Definitely has an Andreilien vibe, to draw comparison to another NorCal mainstay.
With the full album just over a month away, expect to hear and see a lot more from Secret Recipe over the next few weeks.
