Dubstep heads from coast-to-coast know the name Saltus thanks to a steady drip, drip, drip of powerful originals and collabs coming from the Boston-based producer and DJ. But Will Saltus just cranked up the dosage and we got 500 CCs of brooding, eerie, gut-wrenching low end in the shape of the nearly 20-minute NIGHTSKY mix, featuring a 5-pack of previously unheard tunes, including a Boards of Canada edit.
Saltus' selections are always understated and enigmatic. There's a veil of mystery around each of these tunes, and he's got a penchant for crafting just the right mood for every scenario. His ability to stay ahead of the curve in the bass game both in producing and selecting is a testament to his dogged devotion to the scene.
With no concrete plans for the distribution of this fiery collection, Saltus blessed the bass-curious with a teaser that will hold them over until the next release. Fans in Nashville, Tennessee will get their fix the soonest, as he travels to 3Stanley tonight with spacegeishA for a double header of finely cultivated tunes.
