And now for something completely different... Firepower Records has become known as the home for all things heavy. Datsik's predominantly dubstep label makes a radical shift this month, though, with its latest signing. The additional of Shane Drisner signals the charge into new territory for the hungry crew.
Spol has proven himself in the dubstep world, taking on big remixes from Tyler the Creator to Skrillex to Ellie Goulding. But it was in the trap game that Shane Drisner really started to make his mark. The forthcoming eponymous release, slated for a May 13th drop date, however, focuses on house music. A first for Firepower.
Whether it's elements of big room or trap, Drisner's EP has a solid foundation in the worlds of electro and house, and today's premiere is a perfect example of the myriad of sounds and styles he's churning into the mix. "Running" not only employs that chilltrap aesthetic that is sweeping the globe, but he lends the vocal work, himself. Producing, singing, and playing from a young age, Shane Drisner can do it all, and he in fact does it all on this one.
