KR$CHN has been tearing apart Soundcloud lately. The burgeoning Chicagoan continues to dabble in genres across the board, keeping things interesting while amassing a unique style of production that is catching the attention of blogs and labels alike. We recently featured “Kylie” on Crack Tracks, which veered more towards the experimental trap side of things, but his most recent single takes his production in a completely different direction while building off the creative sound he has established.
With “See You Again,” we are invited into a much tamer side of Krystian Szymula. Pitched vocals guide listeners in, grappling your attention as equally funky and deep instrumentations gently build behind these lyrics. It might seem contradictory in a way, but it works. Part of you wants to bob your head and get grooving, while the other half is entirely immersed and subdued by visceral bass lines and synth work reminiscent of a timeframe in music that occurred long before KR$CHN was born. The young gun reps his city without saying a world, embodying that Chi-city soul into a catchy and addicting track that has grown even more on us with each successive listen.
