Splitting the difference between an Erykah Badu backing track and a lost Flying Lotus cut, the latest teaser for Exmag & BRANX's Plants & Animals EP is a plaintive instrumental that tugs at our heartstrings and causes our heads to nod knowingly.

"Game Genie (Interlude)" features longtime collaborator illumntr and some goddamn gorgeous synthwork. Chill and subdued, so much emotion is captured without the utterance of a single word. Now that's power.

The EP drops tomorrow, coinciding with the nationwide Exmag tour, which takes Eric Mendelson, Mike Iannatto, and Tyler Dondero (SuperNicer) on a cross-country trip with support from GiBBZ, M!NT, Marvel Years, and Elaquent, and then runs smack into GRiZ's Say It Loud tour, which continues into early May. The spring tour all leads to the big Red Rocks date in Morrison, CO on June 5 with Lettuce and The Motet.

This collaborative EP between Exmag and BRANX covers 8 tracks and serves as the launchpad for the Members Only Music Series, which springs from the iconic clothier Members Only, famous for their ubiquitous jackets in the 80's. The legendary brand is keeping fans looking retro-chic, and dialing in some musical talent to pair with their plush products. Exmag basically sounds like a leather jacket, so this is one of those no-brainer moments.
