When Portuguese producers Karetus got their hands on Nicky Romero and NERVO’s insta club classic “Like Home,” they faced a bit of a challenge; not only had the track been remixed by the likes of Dillon Francis, Dannic, and Gregor Salto, but it was solid to begin with. So what did they do? Grabbed the stems, added one part drumstep, a healthy dose of grime, pressed pulse, and poured out one of the most impressively blended dubstep/progressive house tracks we’ve yet to hear.
Karetus’ André Reis and Carlos Silva tapped into the enticing combination of girly vocals and glitchy dubstep, throwing heavy kinks into the track’s clean house sound. They swapped in drums for piano, breakdowns for builds and eliminated any possibility of a fist pump but still managed to keep the house feel where the vocals are most at home. Truly an impressive effort, the remix bridges the two genres and brings the best of both worlds.
