With only one week until the release of Space Jazz, Michal Menert’s long-awaited LP, he teased listeners yesterday with another electrifying single: “Jettison.”
The track’s vibrant soundscape is fueled by an impressive team of features that include Dominic Lalli from Big Gigantic and Break Science’s Borahm Lee, as well as Will Glazier and Dan de Lisle from the Michal Menert Big Band.
Chiming melodies paired with layers of clever samples give the record an old-school feel while never straying from the signature soulful, cutting-edge Michal Menert sound. Various male and female lyrics are scattered throughout, including one confirming that: “It’s never too late.”
Blissful, yet subtle saxophone riffs from Lalli serve as the satisfying final touch to the sonic adventure contained within “Jettison.”
Be sure to grab Space Jazz next Tuesday, April 21st, via Menert’s label Super Best Records, and then catch the Michal Menert Big Band with Savoy, Sound Remedy, and Bass Physics at Red Rocks on April 25th.
