Reigning titans of funky glitch-hop Love and Light returned to the Simplify Recordings label with its newest EP today. So Much Yes gives fans a couple of dynamite L&L originals, with a tasty SugarBeats remix thrown in for spice.
Matthew Madonna and Ryan Anderson knock out "So Much Yes!" with their signature hard-hitting kicks and lights out bass blasts. This funky stomper is definitely primed for fans of OPIUO. And for fans of Tipper, "Change Is The Constant" is the perfect blend of irreverent party poppers and that deep dark, psychedelic bass that gets all twisted up in it.
Another duo from further north in Ashland, OR, Ananda Goldsmith and Luke Estes take a hack at the title track with the help of Veronica Rockstar, who lends her vox to SugarBeats. They infuse plenty of wah-wah guitar and sax stabs to this radical makeover. There's a trappy, future funk feel that takes this one to outer space. Sexy and out-of-this-world.
Love and Light closes out its So Much Yes tour with three shows this week. The first is at The Hobbit Hole in Athens, OH on April 30, then the duo heads to Fargo, ND's Nestor Tavern on May 1, and run closes out in one of the pair's favorite markets, Chicago, IL at the Abbey Pub on Saturday, May 2.
