Welcome to Looking for Bumps; a weekly series hosted by The Untz that will bring listeners more content, and do it consistently so you will always have a place to find fresh new tracks. The series will feature new songs and previews of forthcoming releases while encompassing genres all across bass culture, with the desire to provide something for everyone, all the time.
Starting off the second edition of Looking for Bumps is a high-flying, momentous anthem from High Rankin, which was featured on his most recent EP dubbed Breaking Hearts & Minds. The song is filled with relentless synth and dub womps that layer perfectly under Tigerlight’s spine-tingling vocals, which can be heard on three of the four tracks off the EP.
Steve Aoki recently dropped a revamped version of his most recent album Wonderland, which features addicting switch ups from a crew of talented producers in genres all across the board. Tommy Trash took on “Ladi Dadi,” and turned it into a dance worthy, electro house banger containing charismatic drum beats and suspenseful build-ups; perfect to drop on a rowdy crowd of bass heads.
If there is one word that best sums up Alvin Risk’s unique style of raunchy bass music, it would be unpredictable. He stays true to this on his version of Aoki’s “Earthquakey People,” which features a consistently changing fluctuation, a moombahton breakdown, and than relentlessly heavy, dubbed out drops.
Certain producers have the ability to unleash tracks that will have listener’s slipping into an unconscious daze from the second they start. This is the case for MitiS, whose newest track is a chilled out, dreamy tune filled with entrancing synth progressions and bright snare hits; perfect for those long car rides alone.
A few months ago, bass legend Rusko released his critically acclaimed album Songs, and now we have a thunderous official remix by the boys of Tantrum Desire that does not disappoint. The cut features destructive drum and bass patters that mesh perfectly with the tracks original vocals, and help to create a quick paced anthem that will have any listener bobbing their head.
“Here is ‘Evolution’- a mixtape which we’ve made as a preview to our forthcoming release: ‘Careless’- the first of 2 mini albums we’re dropping over the next few months. ‘Careless’ features new tracks and collabs with Diplo, Dillon Francis, Example & Takura, and drops on OWSLA (beatport only) Aug 7th, and then as a full worldwide release Sept 10th through Columbia.” Taken a listen and stay tuned in, because this bad boy just keeps getting better as it progresses.
Clinton Sparks is a beast of a musician who can do anything he sets his mind too. This is apparent from his most recent My Awesome Mixtape, which features emphatic production, tantalizing vocal chords, and catchy smash-ups by the man himself. This is not your average hour-long mix, and features unexpected transitions and pumped up vocal samples at every corner.
Our first version of Looking for Bumps featured KDrew’s dubbed out remix of “Spectrum,” and now we have a nostalgic mashup by the talented producer that will have listeners of any age going wild. The song carefully combines elements of “Dream On” by Aerosmith and his track “Citadel,” and creates a quick paced cut that will shock listeners when it eventually drops; Steven Tyler would be proud.
If we were reviewing a release by Boy Kid Cloud a year ago, it would most likely be describing an aggressive track filled with relentless and razor sharp drops. Well the new Boy Kid Cloud is here, and it is an unexpected yet well received change. “Gone” features ethereal instrumentations and gentle vocal chords from Boy Kid Cloud himself, which combine to create a melodic track that will relax the mind of anyone tuned in.
Also featured on Boy Kid Cloud’s most recent EP is “From The Start,” which combines lofty vocal progressions and atmospheric synth work to create a mood-changing track that will put a smile on any listeners face. Gentle dub lines and crafty drum patterns also sneak their way into sections of the track, which fit together perfectly while proving how far Kid Cloud has come as a producer.
Calling all drum and bass heads, we got another one for you. “Noisia produced 8 songs for Motorstorm Apocalypse. The songs are reinterpretations of the themes that were specially written for this game by composer Klaus Badelt; of Gladiator, Equilibrium and Pirates of the Caribbean soundscoring fame.”
